The R/V Sikuliaq steadily continues her long transit to site SNK1 for our fourth triad transponder deployment, with an anticipated arrival time of 22:00 UTC tomorrow. Site SNK1 is located southeast of Unimak Island, the largest island in the Aleutian Arc.
Notably, we have had some of the calmest conditions today since the start of the expedition--a nice respite from the choppier waters encountered over the last few days.
Since we had no planned deployments for today, we focused on discussing more logistics and science objectives, with two informative lectures in the Main Lab--one from PI Dr. Surui Xie, and the other from Engineer Dr. Glenn Sasagawa.
Watch Group 2 worked on some processing of temperature vs. pressure (/depth) data recovered from sensors on both the float pack and the CTD for comparison.
The science crew closed out the evening by gathering in the Lounge for some team bonding with a movie followed by a few ping-pong matches in the Main Lab.
Until next time!
