Day 0: Alaska 2024 GNSS-A Deployment

Today, a bunch of scientists and the Apply-2-Sail crew of graduate students traveled to Seward, Alaska from far and abroad to get ready for our research cruise that will be heading out tomorrow at 08:30hrs. The science crew includes three PIs on the projects, three marine engineers, and eight graduate students from programs in the US, France, and Chile.

Over the next two weeks we plan to deploy instruments for two seafloor geodetic experiments; one as part of the Near-Trench Community Geodetic Experiment, and the other a very near-trench methodology experiment pushing our limits for dense observations of deformation in very deep-water and high gradient environments. More to come on these as we continue our at-sea work

Meet, Eat and Run
